1These references for a preliminary ruling relate in essence to the interpretation of Article 3(a) and (b) of Regulation (EC) No 469/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 6 May 2009 concerning the supplementary protection certificate for medicinal products (OJ 2009 L152, p.1).

2Since the above cases are connected by their subject-matter, it is appropriate, in accordance with Article 43 of the Rules of Procedure, to join them for the purposes of the oral procedure and of the judgment.

On those grounds, the President of the Court hereby orders:

Cases C-322/10 and C-422/10 are joined for the purposes of the oral procedure and of the judgment.
