Introduction
This appeal concerns a number of requests Mr Pereira made to the Insolvency Service concerning why it had granted a Debt Relief Order to a third party who owed money to Mr Pereira.
A Debt Relief Order is a way by which an individual can deal with their debts if they cannot afford to pay them. If granted, the Debt Relief Order means that certain debts do not need to be paid by the individual. It can be applied for via an “approved intermediary”, who is an authorised debt adviser.
