44.Section 12 of the Administration of Justice Act 1960 and s.97(2) Children Act 1989 impose restrictions on reporting and publications in family cases involving children. Courts may publish judgements anonymised to protect the identity of the children.45.Section 97(2) Children Act 1989 provides that “no person shall publish to the public at large or any section of the public any material which is intended, or likely to identify (a) any child as being involved in any proceedings before the High Court or the family court in which any power under this Act may be exercised by the court with respect to that or any other child; or (b) an address or school as being that of a child involved in such proceedings”. Section 97(4) relaxes the prohibition where the welfare of the child requires it. 46.When the court is asked to permit reporting of such cases the court must strike a balance between Article 8 and 10 of the ECHR.47.Sir James Munby P in
