The Authority’s position was that Mr Kalaris had given untrue evidence by denying any understanding or knowledge of the genesis of the ASA other than in connection with a strategic relationship, when in fact he knew its genesis lay in (a) the Qataris’ demands for additional money, and (b) the ASA was a way of meeting those demands. At the hearing, Mr Stanley said Mr Kalaris’s reply to Q1 was “not the complete truth” and that his failure to tell the complete truth was deliberate.
